  • NTSA warns motorists to collect uncollected logbooks within two months or risk disposal, according to notice cited in the article. Collection is free.
  • Motorists collecting physical logbooks must bring identification and the previous logbook so NTSA can verify ownership before releasing the documents.
  • Uncollected logbooks face disposal after NTSA's 6-month storage period potentially leaving owners without originals needed for vehicle services later.

If you haven’t collected your physical logbook yet, you have only 2 months left to collect it before the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) disposes of it. The Authority issued this notice today, October 12, 2026, to inform motor vehicle owners whose logbooks remain uncollected at its offices.

Collection will be done free of charge, and if you are a motor vehicle owner and the logbook is still held by NTSA, you will be required to carry the previous logbook. You will also be required to present your identification documents either at the collection point or at NTSA offices so that they can verify your authenticity.

Earlier on, NTSA announced that it would store currently printed logbooks that would have been uncollected for a period of six months. The notice was published on June 11, 2026, then it was followed by the second notice issued in August, and this is the third notice, with only two months remaining.

If the six months end, NTSA says that it will dispose of the documents in accordance with its policy. Adding on, the Authority stated that motorists who failed to collect the logbooks would lack original access to the documents, and if they wanted to access services that require attaching the original documents, they would miss out.

To provide assistance and services to Kenyan motorists, NTSA offices are open from Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 5 pm. Those still having uncollected documents can visit any NTSA office or Huduma Centre. This online portal helps motorists check uncollected driving licences, number plates, and logbooks. The website is servicestatus.ntsa.go.ke.
