About 4 weeks ago, we talked about CFAO Mobility Kenya, Association of Vehicle Assemblers Limited and Toyota South Africa coming together for a quality confirmation meeting at the AVA assembly plant and approving the assembly of the 9th-generation Toyota Hilux models.
Now it’s been a while, and CFAO Mobility Kenya, on their Toyota page, has hinted at the locally assembled 2026 Hilux coming to the Kenyan market, featuring its bold design and modern looks.
In the first teaser video, they show a single-cab pickup being driven where it looks like a desert, and it launches some dust from the ground that completely camouflages the vehicle. Only a few details on the front and side can be seen. The video starts with a message, “There Can Only Be One,” and it goes, “One Shujaa,” and after that, we see an aggressive view of the pickup front. All this is captioned with a message that says, “The Spirit of Shujaa is Stirring. Can you feel it? Stay tuned.”
The front look of the vehicle in the teaser video shows the car’s headlights with daytime running lights on, forming a slanted L-shaped LED design due to its angular light strips that extend horizontally inward and then turn at an angle to form the L-like shape. The photo also shows the front bumper featuring large, angular side air inlets, which are positioned at the outer edges with an aggressive, sculpted shape blending into the front fascia, giving the vehicle a rugged and sporty appearance.
In the second teaser video, it shows a vehicle completely camouflaged with the dark surroundings, but they give us a glimpse of what we expect by turning on the headlights, which feature a sharp, angular LED design with a segmented horizontal layout. For each headlight, you can notice they combine rectangular light elements with slanted outer edges, which give the front end a modern and aggressive appearance.
We couldn’t just clarify that this could be the 2026 Toyota Hilux, but key events point to it being here, fully assembled in Kenya at the AVA assembly plant. Also, the inclusion of the term “One Shujaa” gets us close to believing that what Toyota CFAO Mobility is bringing could be a 9th-gen Hilux.
The term is used as a marketing strategy for the Toyota Hilux Single Cab, hinting at the first teaser being the latest model in the CFAO Mobility showroom, while the second teaser could be a 2026 Toyota Hilux Double Cab due to its LED headlight pattern that matches the latest model, as well as the position of the Toyota logo on a non-equal-sized grille, with the bottom width being larger than the top grille and also the positioning of the top antenna.
We are just waiting along for the unveiling, making sure we update you in time on what CFAO is holding behind those camouflaged teaser videos.
