The Association Vehicle Assemblers Limited will start assembling the 9th generation Toyota Hilux after the completion of quality confirmation meeting. The launch of the new Hilux pickup was announced on Wednesday 9, September 2026, by AVA marking a mojor step in the country’s vehicle assembly industry.

The quality confirmation meeting brought together teams from the Association Vehicle Assemblers Limited (AVA), CFAO Mobility Kenya and Toyota South Africa Motors who were involved in the assessment of the pilot Toyota Hilux Units confirming if they go inline with the Toyota’s global assembly and quality standards and the signing off for beginning of the assembly.
The 9th generation Hilux was introduced globally last year and it came with a refreshed exterior and interior design while keeping its familiar ladder frame construction. The new Hilux feutures a new front grille scripted with large “Toyota” lettering on top bordered by a slimmer headlights with daytime running lead lights. Inside also wasn’t forgotten, the cabin got completely redesigned and it followed the patterns of the latest Land Cruiser.

For the power it came in different powetrain options including 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol, 2.5-litre petrol hybrid, 2.7-litre petrol, 2.4-litre turbo-diesel and 2.8-litre turbo-diesel depending on themarket. AVA hasn’t posted anything on powetrain for the new locally assembled but we expect few engine options version to be among the assembled vehicles.
The 2026 9th generation is made for Off-Road driving, it has a 309mm of ground clearance, a 700mm wadding depth. The vehicle can be loaded with up to 1,000 kg cargo and towing capacity of 3500 kg when properly equipped.
The interior feutures a modernized dashboard housing a larger center console, with digital instrumental and improved has been improved on connectivity. On higher trims owners get wireless smartphone charging, additional USB C ports and Toyota’s multi Terrain select and multi-terrain monitor system.
Acording to the Automotive assember the quality confirmation completion is a big milestone for them and it reflects on there on going commitment in upholding the highest vehicles quality standards reinforcing AVA’s standings as a trusted contract assembly partner.
