We touched at the Mood Nganya to Optimus Prime Nganya; now we are looking at the 4th time Nganya Awards winner, Opposite Nganya.

It features the same characteristics as both the Mood and Optimus, only this time featuring a Canadian flag motif complete with an iconic maple leaf, and from the front facia, it looks highly modified with sharp contours, layered accents, and custom LED headlight housings, giving the bus a futuristic look on the road.

The creativity used in Opposite reflects a broader tradition found in many urban regions worldwide of turning public service vehicles into expressive pieces of art. In countries like Kenya, the Philippines, Mexico, and parts of Latin America, public buses and matatus become cultural icons through artwork, lighting, sound systems, and body modifications.

The interior feels like a club on wheels with red neon lights, a big screen in the front, and small others on the sides. Unlike Mood Matatu, which features bucket seats, this one features basic seats. The ceiling is covered by geometric light panels mixing neon colors such as red, yellow, blue, and green.

In the recent Nganya Awards that happened on 29 of November 2025, Opposite Matatu became number one, just like its slogan, Kenya 001. The Nganya Awards celebrates the culture in motion, and it has been there since 2010, stemming up from Kenya to East Africa.
