The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) reduces diesel prices by 5 shillings while petrol prices remain unchanged, going for Ksh 191.38 per liter in Nairobi.
The new price of diesel per liter is Ksh 217.86 and will remain so until Sept 14, 2026, when the government will have reviewed and published new prices through the institution.
For motorists in Mombasa, the Super Petrol price is Ksh 210.87 per liter, and Diesel will go at Ksh 214.58 per liter. In Nakuru petrol will retail at Ksh 212.92 per liter and diesel at Ksh 217.27 per liter. For motorists in Eldoret, diesel prices will stand at Ksh 218.09 and petrol at Ksh 213.69.
Lastly, in Kisumu, diesel will retail at Ksh 218.08, while petrol will be at Ksh 213.69. In a statement published by EPRA on Friday, 14 August 2026, the regulator says the price adjustments follow its monthly reviews as stated in the Petroleum Act 2019 and Legal Notice No. 192 of 2022.
“In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump prices for diesel decreased by Ksh5.00/liter, while the prices of super petrol and kerosene remain unchanged due to additional government stabilization support measures of Ksh938 million,” EPRA said.
Also, the review comes amid mixed changes in the average landed cost of imported petroleum products. As said by EPRA, the average landed cost of imported super petrol went up by 6.99 percent, from US$836.92 per cubic meter in June 2026 to US$948.92 per cubic meter in July 2026.
For diesel, the landed cost dropped by 13.08 percent, from US$984.37 per cubic meter to US$855.59 per cubic meter in the same period as the petrol.
