The Kenya National Highway Authority (KeNHA) announced partial closure of a section of Waiyaki Way between the GTC junction and the Kempinski Hotel to allow ongoing highway maintenance.
The closure will be in place for a period of 30 days, and according to a public notice signed by Director General Eng. Luka Kimeli, the area will be inaccessible for public use starting Friday, 31st July 2026, and ending on Monday, 31st August 2026.
Those who will be affected by the highway maintenance will be the users of Mombasa-bound lanes who use that specific route. KeNHA has confirmed that there will be an unclosed section of the road that will remain accessible throughout the maintenance days.
Those traveling heading in the direction of Mombasa are required to plan ahead and use alternative routes so that they can avoid delays. KeNHA also called on road users to follow the traffic management plan that will be in the affected area.
Also, traffic police and traffic marshals will be deployed to control the traffic flow. The authority called out for cooperation between the motorists and the traffic police and traffic marshals so as to ensure safety and efficiency during the period of maintenance.
Other areas set to be affected by the road works within Nairobi include Kangemi, Kitisuru, Loresho, Kyuna, Spring Valley, Mountain View, Highridge, Muthangari, parts of Riverside, and Lower Kabete.
