Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has launched Range Rover’s first fully electric model, marking the first time in the company’s 57-year history that the iconic luxury off-roader will have a charging port.
It’s about a year-long delay from its planned launch date, and the building of this electric variant marks a major shift in the automaker’s electrification program. The new electric Range Rover will maintain a close design to the gas variant, with only the grille, wheels and underbody panels reworked to improve aerodynamics.
Despite the large battery pack that’s hidden underneath the floor, the Range Rover EV’s interior still maintains the look of the other gas-powered variants.
Powerful Electric Performance
For power, the EV uses 260-kW permanent-magnet electric motors mounted on each front and rear axle. They work in close relation to a 118.5-kWh double-stacked lithium-ion battery to generate up to 542 horsepower and 627 pound-feet (550 PS and 850 Nm of torque).

The 2027 Range Rover Electric provides up to 535 km of real-world range, while its maximum WLTP range is up to 372 miles (599 km). Its 800-volt architecture connected to DC fast chargers helps the Range Rover EV charge from 10 percent to 80 percent in around 22 minutes when using a 350-kW rapid charger. It also comes with NACS compatibility for North American charging. The 0 to 60 mph time is as little as 4.3 seconds.
This one has more torque than any Range Rover there is now. It also rides on air-spring suspension with adjustable height, providing a smooth and quiet ride. The Range Rover Electric is also available with a 3.6-kWh vehicle-to-load adapter, while an additional low-speed AC charging port can be specified on the opposite side to the high-speed DC outlet. Vehicle-to-grid compatibility is planned for the future.
Built for Off-Roading

Range Rover says that the new full-size luxury electric SUV can climb on pebbled surfaces and paths full of rocks easily, and it’s more capable of handling challenging off-road tasks. It’s equipped with an electric traction management system that responds to wheel spin in as little as 50 milliseconds, which is much quicker than its combustion-engine equivalent.

When navigating slopes and the driver wants finer control of the car, the Range Rover EV comes with a single-pedal driving mode, useful in off-road safari. It can also wade through 900 mm (35.4 inches) of water, the same as its gas counterpart.
Smartphone Control

It has a smartphone app that allows owners of the Range Rover Electric vehicle to access the vehicle remotely, with options to check the charging status, predicted driving range, schedule charging and activate cabin purification.

Range Rover Electric Price in the US and UK
In the United States, the 2027 Range Rover Electric starts at around $140,550, while higher specifications can cost considerably more. In the UK, prices start at £154,070 (approximately KSh 26.9 million) for the entry-level EV550 Autobiography.

For the long-wheelbase SV BlackHigher versions will go higher to £225,240 (approximately KSh 39.3 million) . The UK range also includes the First Edition, SV and SV Black models, while the SV Ultra is listed with pricing available on application.

For Kenya, the direct conversion of the UK starting price puts the Range Rover Electric at about KSh 26.9 million before taking into account shipping, insurance, import taxes, registration and other costs. This means the final Kenyan price could be substantially higher if the vehicle is imported into the country.
Its charging compatibility will also be an important consideration for Kenyan buyers, particularly because the vehicle’s charging hardware and the connectors used at local public charging stations may differ.
