Tanaka airbag replacement by CFAO : 2017 Toyota Hilux Kenya

  • CFAO Mobility is offering free replacements for faulty Takata airbags in specific Toyota models manufactured between 2001 and 2017.
  • Humidity and heat can degrade airbag propellants, risking metal fragment ejection during deployment. Visit a dealer to ensure your safety.
  • Contact CFAO Mobility at +254 719 029 145 or visit their website to check your vehicle's status and book the 6-hour replacement service.

CFAO Mobility has published a free service campaign on replacing faulty Takata airbags equipped on specific Toyota models.

According to the auto dealer, the subject vehicles are equipped with a driver’s or passenger airbag with a dual-stage inflator that could rupture in the event of the deployment of the driver’s front airbag.

Prolonged exposure to high-temperature cycling and humidity can cause the propellant within the airbag inflator to degrade, breaking it down to powder.

If this occurs, the inflator may rupture during the driver’s front-side airbag deployment, potentially pushing out high-speed metal fragments into the vehicle cabin, increasing the risk of injuries or deaths to the occupants.

The vehicles that are affected by the airbag issue include certain Toyota models manufactured from 2001 to 2017, and they comprise the Toyota Hilux, Toyota Fortuner, Toyota Corolla, and Toyota Avensis.

There are no warnings on the issue, but if you feel your vehicle is affected, you can visit CFAO Mobility Kenya Limited dealers and branches, where they will replace the driver and passenger front airbags.

The remedy will be performed free of charge; owners won’t be charged for anything. The replacement will take approximately 6 hours, 2 hours for the front driver-side airbag and 4 hours for the passenger-side airbags.

Those who would like to know if their vehicles are affected can contact CFAO Mobility Kenya and verify from them. You can visit their website here or find them at +254 719 029 145/719 029 193 or email [email protected]/[email protected].
