We were quite sure that Toyota’s first fully electric vehicle, the bZ4X, will officially join the Kenyan market. That dream has come true.

Earlier today, CFAO Mobility Kenya officially launched the Toyota bZ4X into the Kenyan market, marking a historic move, as it’s the renowned automaker’s first-ever fully electric vehicle to come out of production to be part of the EV race in the Kenyan market.
The nameplate bZ4X stands for Beyond Zero, 4-Wheel Crossover, with “Beyond Zero” (bZ) standing for Toyota’s global vision in reaching carbon neutrality and going beyond with the aim to make a positive impact on the planet and society. The 4 illustrates that it’s a mid-size SUV, while the X shows that the vehicle is a crossover.
According to the automaker representatives, the bZ4X is backed by Toyota’s 89-year global legacy and 60 years of their presence on Kenyan roads. It promises quality and durability backed by its status of being a highly robust and durable vehicle that’s built for the harshest conditions.

On its technicalities, this model gives up to 516 km of range, just an additional 16 km compared to what we previewed previously. From 0 to 100 km/h it needs just 5 seconds, and the vehicle features All-wheel drive mode, also the X-Mode and Grip Control.
It has great ground clearance for winding Kenyan roads, about 0.206 metre in front and 0.212 metre in back. The wading depth is at 0.5 metre; this makes it a suitable vehicle to be used in on-road and off-road conditions.
From 10 percent to 80 percent, only 30 minutes are needed to charge; this is because of its rapid 150 kW DC fast charging capabilities. Customers are covered with an 8-year/120,000 km battery warranty, and they will be able to get stronger after-sales service support from CFAO Mobility countrywide branches.
