EPRA Announces New Fuel Prices for May/June 2026
SHARE
  • EPRA has announced a reduction in fuel costs effective June 15, 2026, with diesel seeing a notable decrease of KSh 10 per liter and petrol dropping by KSh 0.22 per liter.
  • The price adjustment follows a strategic reduction in Value Added Tax (VAT) on petroleum products, which has been lowered from 16% to 8% to help ease the burden on consumers.
  • To further stabilize costs, the government is injecting approximately KSh 10 billion from the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) to subsidize petrol and diesel prices for this cycle.

The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has reduced the prices of petrol and diseal following the announcement made today.

The new price will reflect starting June 15, 2026, at 00:00 am. As announced, petrol price was reduced by KSh 0.22 per liter, and diesel was reduced by KSh 10 per liter. Now the new prices in Nairobi from June 15, 2026, will be Ksh 214.03 per liter for petrol and Ksh 222.86 for diesel.

According to EPRA, the new prices are in line with the Gazette notice published in April, where the government will temporarily cut the Value Added Tax (VAT) on petroleum products, which was at 16% VAT, to 13% VAT and now cut to 8%.

Additionally, the Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) will also be used to cushion consumers in the June cycle. It’s approximated that 10 billion from the PDL Fund will be utilized so that the diesel and petrol prices will be subsidized.
