The 2023 Mazda CX-30 embodies Mazda’s Kodo—Soul of Motion design philosophy. Its body shape gives it a premium and athletic look among its rival subcompact SUV segments.

From the front, the CX-30 features a wide sculpted grille finished in gloss black and a sleek winged signature that blends into the sharp LED headlamps, giving the car a more aggressive appearance. In higher trims you will get adaptive LED headlights with auto-leveling and signature daytime running lights (DRL), which enhances visibility and visual appeal.

The side of the CX-30 has smooth, uninterrupted body curves, and around the wheel arches, a black color is added to give the SUV a rugged stance.

The 2023 CX-30 comes with standard alloy wheels in the base trim; it’s 16 inches, going up to 18 inches or 19 inches, all machine-finished or in a black metallic design that is found on the upper trim. The rear of this CX-30 features minimalist LED taillights, dual exhaust outlets, a rear spoiler, and a wide bumper that complements the car’s balanced proportion. You get chrome detailing and roof rails on specific trim levels.

Power and Performance

Under the hood, the CX-30 offered a 2.5 L Skyactiv-G petrol engine producing 186 horsepower; if imported from the US, the base model received a boost from 186 horsepower to 196 horsepower, but plenty of Mazdas in Kenya are mostly imported from Japan, which has only 186 horsepower. Later Mazda offered a turbocharged 2.5-liter petrol engine that delivers up to 250 horsepower. Both engines were paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, which adjusted its gears smartly based on driving conditions.

The CX-30 is the best choice car to drive in Kenya; that’s because of its balanced size, all-wheel-drive capabilities, and high ground clearance of 6.9 inches (175 mm), making it suitable for urban cruising and rural cruising. Also, the 6-speed transmission is available with Mazda’s i-Activ all-wheel drive system.

The 2.0L SkyActiv-G petrol engine consumes 14.5 to 16.0 km/L, the 2.5 L petrol engine (Skyactiv-G) fuel consumption is 12.5 to 14.0 km/L, and lastly, the 2.5 L turbo petrol engine consumption is 10.5 to 12.0 km/L. From 0 to 100 km, the 2.0 L sprints in 9.7 seconds, the 2.5 L sprints in 8.5 seconds, and the 2.5 L turbo sprints in 6.4 seconds.
