  • Ngong Road (between Windy Ridge and Westwood Park) will be closed for one week starting June 11, 2026, for culvert installation.
  • Major arteries including Kenyatta Avenue, Valley Road, Jakaya Kikwete Road, and Haile Selassie Avenue face significant closures ranging from four to eight months.
  • KURA has deployed traffic marshals and police to guide motorists through alternative routes and mitigate congestion during the construction period.

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), in a statement published today, has announced a partial closure of sections of roads in Nairobi, allowing for construction to take place.

KURA highlighted some sections of roads to be closed, including Ngong Road between Windy Ridge and Westwood Park Road in Karen. The road will be closed from Thursday, June 11, 2026, till Thursday, June 18, 2026, running for a week, allowing the installation of a twin cross culvert.

The other areas are Kenyatta Avenue, Valley Road, and Jakaya Kikwete Road. The road will be closed starting Friday, June 12, 2026, to Friday, February 12, 2027, running for 8 months, allowing construction of the bridge.

Haile Selassie Avenue is expected to be closed for four months starting Friday, June 12, 2026, to Monday, October 12, 2026, allowing construction of another bridge.

Silas Kinoti, KURA Director General Engineer, urges motorists to use alternative routes, and they will be guided by traffic marshals and police who will ensure the safety of them and road users; also, they will be involved in minimizing traffic disruption.
