  • The arrival of MA3e CKD kits will support local assembly in Kenya, creating skilled jobs and strengthening the country’s electric mobility ecosystem.
  • The MA3e electric minibus offers up to 300 km of range and can recharge in under 90 minutes via DC fast charging, making it ideal for daily intercity operations.
  • BasiGo continues to scale electric public transport solutions across Kenya and Rwanda as part of its mission to decarbonize commercial fleets.

Months after launching its second-generation electric bus, BasiGo is back with another major announcement. The company has confirmed the shipment of Ma3e minibus Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits, a move that will enable the development of local electric vans in Kenya and also create skilled job opportunities and support the scaling up of electric mobility beyond Nairobi.

Earlier, BasiGo introduced its electric Matatus, or ma3, that are designed for intercity operations; now, with the announcement of the CKD kits, it signals potential expansion of the intercity operations. This minibus, or MA3, offers a range of up to 300 kilometers on a single charge and can be fully recharged in under 90 minutes using a DC fast charging station, making it suitable for daily commercial use.

BasiGo has been actively operating in both Kenya and Rwanda, supplying electric mobility technology and vehicles aimed at decarbonizing public service transportation in both countries. The company’s focus remains on reducing emissions from commercial fleets while boosting the adoption of electric public transportation across the region and beyond.

While the company has so far shared limited details about the CKD rollout, we will be following up with the updates on pricing, technical specifications, and the expected timeline for local assembly and the readiness for road development as more information becomes available.
